Tai Cheng® – FAQ

Program_Heros_1400x550_HERO_TaiCheng_ie3i2f

Who is it for?
Tai Cheng is a 90-day program based on Tai Chi, one of the oldest and most popular forms of exercise on the planet. It’s very, very basic in the beginning, but ramps up to become quite challenging toward the end. It can be used in many ways, as a program by itself or in combination with other programs to help with your coordination and mobility.

What equipment does it require?
The program comes with a foam roller, which you will learn how to use. Extra workouts (beyond the 90-day program) have options for a resistance band and weighted gloves.

Is Tai Cheng only for old people?
No, though it is appealing to anyone who has lost some of their balance, mobility, or range of motion.

Can I get visible results?
The Tai Cheng workouts do not burn a lot of calories, though they do induce some hormonal changes that can improve your metabolism. But the program does come with a nutrition guide, which can help you eat to match your physical output and that will lead to visible results if you stick with it.

I’m uncoordinated. Can I do Tai Cheng?
The program begins very slowly with a lot of instruction, so you can go at your own pace as you master the movements. Your progression may be slower than some others, but you’ll get there.

Can I do another Beachbody nutrition plan with Tai Cheng and still get results?
Yes. All Beachbody nutrition plans are good, no-nonsense nutrition, except for cutting diets, but their limitations are spelled out and they work well with Tai Cheng. Some of the programs are designed for advanced users, so make sure you’re accounting for the fact that you’re burning fewer calories than you would in P90X or INSANITY. If you like the convenience of the 21 Day Fix plan, it also works great with Tai Cheng.

I missed a week due to vacation/work travel/sickness. Where do I start from today?
Unlike most Beachbody programs, if you miss some time you can jump right back into Tai Cheng at whatever point you stopped.

What’s the perfect next step?
After Tai Cheng your body will be performing much better than it was when you started, enabling you to jump into a much more difficult fitness program than you could have before. However, it’s not going to necessarily give you the strength and stamina to begin a program like P90X or INSANITY unless you were close to that level already. The best next step is to pick an exercise program that looks challenging, not crazy.
